The Coastal Waters and Communities of British Columbia are in Crisis Due to Government Policies and Lack of Regulation of the Shellfish Industry.
The Association for Responsible Shellfish Farming
Shellfish farming debris collected from a Denman Island beach.

  • It is one of the few minimally regulated industries in Canada,
  • It has no enforceable code of practice,
  • It has no siting criteria for its operations, and
  • There are no enforced regulations limiting its negative impact on the
environment, other coastal businesses, recreational uses, or residents.

The Association for Responsible Shellfish Farming is dedicated to a sustainable shellfish industry and coastal environment.
